Andrew Mclaren
I am a breast and endocrine surgeon. In my current practice I undertake over 100 thyroid operations a year making me one of the largest volume thyroid surgeons in the UK.
I am passionate about providing daycase surgery wherever possible ensuring my patients are able to go home as soon as they can painfree.
I undertake breast cancer surgery and general surgery including hernia surgery as well

Mr McLaren was appointed Consultant Breast and Endocrine Surgeon at Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2004.

He trained on the Oxford Surgical Rotation and spent a year doing an Endocrine Fellowship.

His interests are in breast and endocrine surgery undertaking breast cancer surgery with high rates of immediate reconstruction and sentinel node biopsy.

Daycase thyroid surgery was introduced by Mr McLaren in 2005. He was the first surgeon in the UK to develop this into routine clinical practice.
The results have been excellent as his changes in surgical technique mean most patients need no painkillers post-operatively.

He lectures on daycase endocrine surgery at the European Surgical Institute in Hamburg.
